Times-Journal readers know all about Halloween––and Halloween trivia.
Sixty-seven readers submitted entries in the T-J’s Halloween Trivia Contest, and most had the correct answers.
Three prize winners were drawn from the correct entries:
Megan Brumaghim of Richmondville took first place and received a $50 gift certificate to Kelley Farm and Garden.
Elizabeth Iseman of Quaker Street was second and got a $25 gift certificate from Brick House Bakery.
Janet Testa of Cobleskill was third, also receiving a $25 gift certificate to Brick House Bakery.
T-J proofreader, historian and trivia expert Pete Lindemann came up with the questions. They follow with the answers:

5. According to Bobby ‘Boris’ Pickett in his song ‘Monster Mash,’ what was the name of the vocal group for the coffin-bangers? The Crypt-Kicker Five.
6. ‘The Black Cat,’ 1934, was the first time these two famous horror actors appeared together on film. Who are the actors? Bela Lugosi and Boris Karloff.
7. The last time we had one of these on Halloween was 2020 and the next time will be in 2039. This year it’s on October 28. What is it? Full moon.
8. The 1991 Halloween movie ‘Ernest Scared Stupid’ features which actress and singer known for her 1953 recording of ‘Santa Baby’? Eartha Kitt.
9. “Fair is foul, foul, is fair” is chanted in Shakespeare’s Macbeth by a trio of what? Witches.
10. What TV series ran from 1966-1968 and may have inspired kids at the time to go to bat and beg their parents to buy them the Halloween costume of the title character? Batman.
Bonus question: When geese fly in a V formation, why is one side of the V always longer than the other side? There are more geese on that side.
