COVID # up, Bassett requires masks

With local COVID numbers again on the rise, all Bassett Healthcare facilities are now requiring masks.
The temporary masking requirement was instituted last Wednesday, January 10 and effective immediately.
According to a release from the Bassett Healthcare Network, “all patients, visitors, employees, students, and volunteers are now required to wear medical-grade masks across campuses including loically: Cobleskill Regional Hospital, Fox Hospital and Fox Nursing Home in Oneonta, and Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown as well as at all outpatient clinics and school-based health centers.”
According to the release, while masking requirements are in place, signs will be posted at all locations and medical-grade masks will be available at all entrances.
The masking requirement will be reassessed in one week.
According to the Centers for Disease Control, in numbers updated Friday, the community risk level for COVID transmission in Schoharie and Otsego Counties is now high wit masking indoors recommended.
According to the CDS, the Otsego-Chenango NY Health Service Area—which includes Schoharie and Otsego Counties—had 46 new COVID admissions last week.
In Schoharie County, 19,475 people (63.7 percent) have received at least one COVID vaccination, 18,163 (58.6 percent) have received two doses or a single Johnson & Johnson dose, 10,664 (34.4 percent) have received a booster dose, and 4,980 (16.1 percent) have received an updated Concerned about not just COVID, but RSV and the flue, a number of Capital District facilities have also mandated masks including Albany Med, Ellis Hospital, Saratoga Hospital, and Glens Falls Hospital.
