County sets 2 Hazard Mitigation workshops

The Schoharie County Department of Planning and Community Development will be hosting the first of as many as three Hazard Mitigation Workshops for municipal leaders and the public on Thursday, August 22, 6:30-8:30pm at the Office of Emergency Services, 2783 Route 7, Cobleskill.
A second workshop is set for Wednesday, August 28, 6:30-8:30pm at the Middleburgh Town Hall/Community Center, 139 Cotton Hill Road.
Workshops will be hosted both in-person and online via Zoom for those who cannot attend in person.
Workshops will cover the following information:
• What hazard mitigation is and why it’s important.
• An update on county-wide and municipality specific hazard scoring for the 2024 Hazard Mitigation Plan.
• Proposed hazard mitigation projects that municipalities would like to undertake.
• Critical facilities and shelters in each municipality covered.
• Discussion of hazards of concern, “problem areas” in municipalities, and critical facilities and shelters that may not have been identified so far.
Workshops will be tailored to those in attendance using live polling at the beginning of the presentation, and all workshops will be recorded and posted on the Schoharie County website afterwards.
