Will Adler get its tarps before winter?

Now that the Adler Hotel has been sold, one-of-a-kind tarps purchased by the Greater Mohawk Valley Land Bank to protect the roof and stabilize the historic hotel could be going up before the snow flies.
The GMVLB purchased the tarps more than a year ago with Schoharie County ARPA funds, but in the end, the owner refused them access.
In a letter to supervisors ARPA Committee dated October 21, GMVLB Executive Director Tolga Morawski said they expected to sign a revised MOU with the new owner, Patrick Fourmy, Friday.
“Discussions with the new owner have been very positive,” Mr. Morawski wrote. “We have a revised MOU/MOA with them and are expecting a signing in the next day or two, allowing us to move forward/resume work on the building.
“This will begin…with an update on-site engineering assessment to assure the roof is still safe.”
Mr. Morawski also updated the ARPA Committee on two demolition projects, one at 2403 Route 20 in Carlisle and the other at 113 Pine Street in Cobleskill.
Demo at both has been completed, he said; Cobleskill is already fully cleaned, filled, and compacted and ready for new construction with the Carlisle site close behind.
A third property, 1618 Charlotte Valley Road in Summit, has been cleaned up and clean-out of the home is well underway with the exterior porches cleared of junk.
Next up will be clearing out the basement ahead of structural repairs.
Though the home has initially been targeted for demo too, it wasn’t in as bad shape as initially thought and will eventually be sold.
Mr. Morawski said he’s already had inquiries from several interested buyers.
