Soup's on Saturday in Cobleskill

Saturday’s Soup Stroll in Cobleskill is shaping up to be as successful as last year’s first-time event.
Hosted by the downtown improvement group Cobleskill Partnership Inc., the Stroll offers visitors soup samples from eight restaurants.
Last year, CPI expected up to 300 people to turn out; instead, more than 400 came for soup.
“We were surprised then” said CPI Vice President Bruce Tryon, chair of the group’s Events Committee.
“But based on that success, there’s a lot of excitement about the second Soup Stroll.”
The Stroll runs from 11:30am to 3pm.
Participating restaurants are Bull’s Head Inn, Locomotions, Chieftans, La Marketa, American Tavern, Pizza Shack, Brick House Bakery and Cowboy’s Taqueria.
Each restaurant will provide a cup of their specialty, and all of the restaurants are within walking distance of one another.
Pre-sale tickets are $15 and are available at cobleskillpartnership.com. Pre-sale ends at 5pm Friday, and tickets are $20 after that.
CPI will have a tent at the corner of Main and Division Streets, and visitors can get tickets there.
“Pre-sale tickets are running ahead of last year, so we’re expecting a crowd,” Mr. Tryon said.
The Soup Stroll is a fundraiser for CPI’s projects; in addition, half the proceeds will go to Marathon for a Better Life.
Last year’s beneficiary was Cobleskill-Richmondville’s Backpack Program.
