A Gallupville man was killed and another man was severely injured in a head-on collision near the intersection of Routes 30 and 30A in Schoharie Thursday afternoon.
Lawrence Bradish, 60, of Factory Street was pronounced dead at Cobleskill Regional Hospital, said the Loudonville State Police. An autopsy was planned for Friday.
Walter Lewinski, 57, of Zicha Road in Howes Cave suffered a fractured hip and a fractured arm in the accident, police said. He was taken by helicopter to Albany Medical Center Hospital. He was initially listed in serious condition.
The State Police gave the following description of the accident:
Mr. Bradish was driving a 1996 Ford pickup south on Route 30A at about 2:39pm when he apparently crossed the double yellow line and into the opposing lane and collided head-on with a 1995 GMC pickup driven by Mr. Lewinski.
The vehicles collided on Route 30A about 150 feet north of Route 30 near the Apple Barrel.
Roads in the area were closed for about three hours after the accident.
No tickets were issued.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
