Police probe burglaries

Police are investigating break-ins into four Route 7 businesses that appear to be similar to thefts in Cobleskill and Schoharie earlier this year.
The Princetown State Police said that COD Oil Delivery, Sign Language, Superior Homes and Carpets and Then Some were entered sometime Friday night or Saturday morning.
No items were taken in any of the businesses except for the carpet shop in Warnerville at which some carpet and cash were taken, said Investigator William John.
The break-ins were reported on Saturday morning.
Investigator John said the investigation is ongoing and did not want to give any details on how much money was taken or how the businesses were entered.
“We’re developing leads and are continuing our investigation,” he said.
Police have some leads, he said, “but we have some work to do.”
The burglaries seem similar to a rash of 14 break-ins in the Cobleskill area on January 20 and 21 and about 10 more in Schoharie in July.
In January, three Cobleskill village businesses were hit and 11 more east on Route 7 and into Central Bridge were entered.
Investigator John said that police have had some burglaries that are similar to earlier ones but he did not want to characterize all of them as being similar.
In January, police said that there were similar break-ins in Marcy, Herkimer and Oneonta, in addition to Cobleskill.
In those cases, the method of entry was the least invasive, police said. Only paper currency was taken and there was no vandalism.
