Schoharie and Esperance town officials may soon decide on the next step for the Central Bridge sewer district.
Officials have received a proposal from the sewer committee on how to spend the $4.5 million that has been approved for the project.
The proposal calls for the core of the hamlet of Central Bridge to be served by a sewer district with the possibility of four other roads that could be covered if bids come back favorably, Schoharie Supervisor Martin Shrederis said.
The determining factor on whether other roads, such as the Pine Hill area, will be serviced will be the cost of running the pipe to those areas, the Supervisor said.
The final decision will be made by the Central Bridge water and sewer board.
After a proposition to add $2.3 million to the original $4.5 project was defeated by voters on the Schoharie section of Central Bridge in September, officials spoke with architects and engineers before deciding in October to reassemble the sewer committee to ask for a recommendation.
The cost per household will likely be $544 a year, Mr. Shrederis said. The cost would have been $498 a year if the extra funding had passed.
Earlier this year, voters in the Esperance side of the hamlet passed the additional funding but the vote in the Schoharie side ended in a tie which led to September’s vote.
