Coby Challenge Games celebrate athletes

Rain forced Saturday’s Coby Challenge Games inside, but it didn’t do a thing to dampen spirits for more than 100 developmentally-disabled athletes.
The ever-popular SUNY Cobleskill event featured volleyball, bowling, basketball, and soccer and included medals for both winners and participants.
“It’s always such a good time,” said Cherie Stevens, one of the organizers. “I don’t know who has more fun, the athletes or the coaches. But it’s something I look forward to all year.”
This year’s theme was “The Possibilities are Endless,” a message emblazoned on event t-shirts in gray for the volunteer coaches and bright orange for the athletes.
Sponsors were: SSA, SUNY Cobleskill’s Student Community Services Club, Schoharie County ARC, Fenimore Asset Management, the Donna Lavigne Agency, Sterling Insurance, the Wal-Mart Distribution Center, First New York FCU, SCCAP, NBT of Schoharie County, Gerald and Sharon Cacciola, MidTel, Ken Fake Insurance, and The Harva Company.
