The community of Esperance hosted its 3rd annual Fire/EMS Worship Service Sunday as a way to say thanks to volunteers.
Among the churches participating in the interfaith service were the Esperance-Sloansville United Methodist Church, the Esperance Presbyterian Church, and the Carlisle Presbyterian Church.
Also as part of the event, held at the gazebo, the Esperance Elks presented $500 checks to the Esperance Historical Society, Esperance Rescue Squad, and Esperance Fire Department.
The Elks also provided a barbecue for the rescue and fire volunteers with Mayor Steve Miller among those manning the grill.
