M'burgh Arts & Crafts Saturday

7/23/2008

It should be a busy day Saturday in Middleburgh as almost 90 vendors are already signed up for the 37th annual Arts and Crafts Festival.
The number of vendors, which totaled 86 as of Monday morning, has grown greatly in the past few weeks, said festival co-chair Vicki Hoerz.
Many of the new vendors will be familiar as they are mostly local businesses, including several Main Street shops, Ms. Hoerz said.
It is important to have the local businesses participate in the festival, she said.
The businesses, she said, will be able to display their items and people can support them.
In addition to the new vendors, there will be many return vendors, Ms. Hoerz said.
There will be a great variety of vendors at the show, she said.
Vendors will display woodcrafts, jewelry, quilling (a type of paper craft), crocheting, acrylic painting, flower centerpieces, photography, soy candles, stained glass, T-shirts and many more. There will be a dunking booth by the high school and a food court, at which one vendor will have design your-own-cupcakes, on the street between the school and the bank.
Several informational booths will also be set up, Ms. Hoerz said. Some of the booths will have information about the historical society and the new MCS alumni association.
The Larry Mickle country band will perform on the stage in front of the high school in the afternoon.
The show will run from 9am to 6pm.
Volunteers from the Middleburgh library will once again be holding a used book sale in the community room of the library on Saturday from 9am to 1pm and the Best House on Clauverwie will be open for tours.
