Worcester CS to host 3 finalists

The Worcester Central School Board of Education has selected three finalists in its search for the new superintendent.
Each of the candidates will spend a full day in the district meeting with faculty, staff, students and the community.
The public is invited to meet the finalists at 7pm on September 10, September 24 and October 8, at WCS.
Kevin Johnson will visit the district on September 10.
Mr. Johnson currently serves as Middle School principal with the Oneonta City Schools. He has served in the capacity since 2004.
From 1989 to 2004, Mr. Johnson worked at the Oneonta City Schools, first as a high school English teacher, then as associate high school principal, and then as elementary principal.
His teaching background is in English.
Mr. Johnson holds a bachelor of arts from the State University at Oneonta and a master of science in English education from the State University at Oneonta. He lives in Oneonta.
Gary Kuch will visit the district on September 24.
Since 1999 he has been the High School principal at Cooperstown Central School.
Prior to that, he served as supervisor, Innovative Programs, and principal for the Otsego Area Occupational Center.
Mr. Kuch’s background is in school psychology and special education.
Mr. Kuch has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Skidmore College, and a master of arts in school psychology from Alfred University. He lives in Cooperstown.
On October 8, Jeffrey Matteson will meet with members of the school community in Worcester.
Dr. Matteson is currently the high school principal at the Millbrook Central School District. He has served in that capacity since 2003.
From 1995-2000, Dr. Matteson worked at the Tioga Central School District as the Middle School principal. He also works as an adjunct online facilitator for Indiana Wesleyan University.
His teaching background is in social studies.
Dr. Matteson earned his bachelor of arts in liberal arts – social sciences from SUNY Morrisville, his masters in educational leadership at Castleton State College in Vermont, and his Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership from Regent University in Virginia. He lives in Millbrook.
Jennifer Bolton-Carls, assistant superintendent for Management Services of the Otsego Northern Catskills BOCES, has been assisting the board of education throughout the search process. The public is encouraged to attend the open forums to meet the finalist candidates.
