Awesome August Perfecta at Arboretum

The Landis Arboretum will host its Awesome August Perfecta this Saturday, August 30, as a way to honor founder Fred Lape.
The event will kick off with a 5K cross-country forest run’walk and Tot Trot from 9am-noon.
There is a registration fee with all proceeds benefiting the Arboretum and the Wanderland Universally Accessible Garden.
There are a variety of age categories, awards, and free t-shirts to the first 50 people registered.

From noon-4pm, there will be an Old Stone Fort militia encampment featuring opportunities for hands-on drilling, a mock skirmish, and demonstrations on Colonial living.
At 2pm, there will be a walk through the Arboretum’s old growth forest, led by Howard Stoner, a member of the Eastern Native Tree Society.
From 3-8pm, will be Lape Day Open Mic.
All are welcome to share their music, poetry, prose, artwork, and crafts.
Plans also include a campfire sing-a-long after dark.
Bring lawn chairs and blankets. Refreshments will be sold.
Finally, at 8:30pm, naturalist George Steele will offer a Nature Tunes and Tales Campfire.
Admission and parking by suggested donation. There is a registration fee for the 5K.
Food and beverages will be available all day.
