Another record-breaking FAM 5K

For the second FAM 5K in as many years, Alene Reta and Alemtsehay Misganaw were the first brother-sister team across Saturday’s finish line.
They were also the first two back.
Reta, 27, posted a 14:25 time to take first place and win the men’s division.
Misganaw, 28, was the first woman to break the tape. She finished in 17:13.
Both are from New York City; both won their divisions in the 2008 FAM 5K Walk/Run.
Despite soggy skies, Saturday’s race from the Fairgrounds and back drew a record-breaking number of entrants.
This year’s event was a fundraiser for Catholic Charities of Schoharie County.
In addition to the main race, there was a kids’ race, chicken BBQ, music, and balloon creations by Sparkles the Clown.
For the men, Paul Mwangi, 41, of Naugatuck, Connecticut was second in 15:43 and Geoffrey Decker, 25, of Brooklyn, was third in 15:57.
For the women, Claudia Camargo, 37, of Danbury, Connecticut was second in 17:25; Charlene Lyford, 42, of Greene, was third in 20:05.
