Ceremony marks Veteran

Cobleskill’s Veterans’ Memorial Centre Park was the setting for well-attended Veteran’s Day ceremonies Tuesday.
Christian Motorcycle Association chaplain Wes Edwards and Gerald Mitchell were among the veterans offering remarks.
Both spoke of the sacrifices of soldiers through the years and of the need to move ahead, together as a nation, under the leadership of President-elect Barack Obama.
Brian Swanhall, a Cobleskill-Richmonmdville music teacher as well as a veteran played “Taps,” and the National Anthem.
The event, the 80th held in the park since the end of world war II, also featured the laying of the wreaths by various veterans’ organizations, an honor guard salute, and introductions.
Close to 100 people ignored the cold wind and threat of snow to take part in the remembrance.
