Thieves take four large screen TVs
2/18/2009 |
The Cobleskill State Police are investigating a burglary in the Town of Middleburgh in which burglars stole four large flat screen televisions.
The burglary occurred at a recently built log cabin at 1442 Clauverwie Road in the town sometime overnight from January 28 to 29, according to the State Police. The log cabin is about a half-mile southeast of Clauverwie and is easily visible from many roads in the Village of Middleburgh area.
Forced entry was made into the home and an extensive amount of damage was caused to the electrical service and alarm system, police said.
Among the items stolen were four large flat televisions, some chain saws and some smaller items, police said. An ATV at the residence was used to transport the stolen items to another location on Clauverwie. The ATV was recovered.
State Police Investigator Steven Koveleskie said that the dollar amounts are still being determined but it appears that the damages are over $5,000 and the property taken is also about $5,000.
He said that the police are working on some leads at this point.
The owner of the residence is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons who committed the burglary, police said.
Anyone with information should contact the State Police at 630-1700.
