Ag plan hearings in Carlisle, Seward

3/4/2009

Farming is an important part of the New York State economy, and this is especially true in rural areas like Schoharie County.
To protect their agriculture, the Towns of Seward and Carlisle have been working on a joint Agricultural Protection Plan.
The purpose of the plan is to promote continued agricultural use in the community by identifying and protecting land and areas that are integral to agriculture and implementing policies in town regulations that are farm-friendly. In order to accomplish this goal, we will need as much local input as we can gather.
Together, they are almost halfway through a two-year process and now we need help from the public.
Carlisle will be holding a public meeting on March 18 at 7pm in the firehouse on Route 20.
Seward’s public meeting will March 23 at 7pm in the town hall on Lowe Road.
