Man dies after May 3 accident

The Cobleskill man who struck a telephone pole as a passenger in a car on May 3 has died, hospital officials said Tuesday afternoon.
Ryan Daly, 23, was injured while riding in the front seat of a vehicle on Elm Street on the afternoon of Sunday, May 3.
A Bassett Hospital spokeswoman in Cooperstown said Tuesday afternoon that Mr. Daly had died. The woman could not say when Mr. Daly died.
The driver of the vehicle, Calvin Dancler, 22, of Cobleskill was originally ticketed for reckless driving by the Cobleskill Village Police but police said further action could be taken when the findings were complete.
The Cobleskill Police received a 911 call at about 5:17pm on May 3 reporting an accident on Elm Street near the intersection of Washington Avenue.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers determined that Mr. Dancler was driving a 1999 Dodge Stratus in a reckless manner, police said. Mr. Daly was a front seat passenger of the vehicle as it was heading west on Elm Street when the car passed too close to the curb and struck a utility pole, police said. Mr. Daly was also struck by the pole.
