First-term Village of Cobleskill Trustee Alexander “Sandy” MacKay is looking for another job:
Mayor.
Mr. MacKay, who’s four-year trustee seat is also on the November ballot, said Monday he’s running for mayor.
Mayor Mike Sellers has already said he’s not running; Cobleskill businessman Mark Nadeau has said he is.
“I think we need someone in that seat who can provide leadership without being a bull in a china shop,” Mr. MacKay said.
Prior to running for trustee, Mr. MacKay was a longtime member of the Village Planning Board.
He is a retired planner for Lamont Engineers—experience he said has been invaluable in serving as trustee but at the same time, is still no substitute for actually doing the job.
“I have 20 years of experience working with village boards and small communities and I quickly found that there’s a lot to learn when you’re sitting on that other side of the table,” Mr. MacKay said.
Nominating petitions are due by August 18.
The seat of Trustee Mark Galasso is also up for re-election.
