Cobleskill Village Police lodged another charge Tuesday against Sarah Thompson in the forging of Sunshine Fair passes.
Police charged Ms. Thompson, 42, of Warnerville, with third-degree grand larceny, a Class D felony, as a result of financial losses to the Fair.
Police charged Ms. Thompson with third-degree forgery, a Class A felony, three weeks ago in connection with forging hundreds of season passes to the Fair, according to Cobleskill Police.
Tuesday’s grand larceny charge is in addition to the forgery charge, according to Sergeant Rich Bialkowski of the Cobleskill Police.
He said police and Schoharie County Sheriff’s deputies met with District Attorney Jim Sacket before determining the new charge.
“It was based on monetary loss to the Fair of at least $15,000,” Sgt. Bialkowski said.
“The loss was caused by making the ficticious passes.”
Police collected more than 200 of the forged passes, some during the Fair and many more afterwards.
Legitimate season passes cost $50 and are available only at the Fair office. People were selling the forged passes for $5 or $10 on South Grand Street, according to police.
Police believe Ms. Thompson printed the passes on her home computer.
Others besides Ms. Thompson were involved in the case, and Sgt. Bialkowski said there may be another arrest.
“We’ll probably be charging one more person with petty larceny and/or conspiracy,” he said.
“There seemed to be one more main person involved in making or distributing the passes,” he said.
Petty larceny and conspiracy are both misdemeanors.
Ms. Thompson was to be in Cobleskill Village Court Tuesday afternoon and was expected to be released on her own recognizance, Sgt. Bialkowski said.
She is to be in Richmondville Town Court this afternoon, Wednesday, on the forgery charge.
