Cobleskill Supervisor Roger Cohn has unexpectedly decided not to seek a second term.
Mr. Cohn, a longtime councilman before being elected supervisor in 2005, is recovering from surgery at Cobleskill Regional Hospital, Deputy Supervisor and Councilman Linda Angell said Monday.
“He’s feeling well,” Ms. Angell told the rest of the board at Monday’s town meeting, as she asked for prayers and best wishes for Mr. Cohn’s recovery.
“I saw him last night and I expect him back in a week or so. He’s absolutely incredible.”
Ms. Angell said Mr. Cohn has decided against running again.
However, she is hoping to get the nomination for the job when Cobleskill Republicans hold their caucus Thursday at 7:30pm at the Wilson Insurance Building.
Ms. Angell has been a councilman for 24 years and most recently, has served as deputy supervisor for the late Frank Reilly and Mr. Cohn.
Also Thursday, Cobleskill’s GOP will nominate candidates for two councilmen and one justice.
In addition to the supervisor post, the terms of Councilmen Ken Hotopp and Tim Purcell are also up.
