Details sketchy in suspicious Sharon death

Details remain sketchy in what police are calling the “suspicious death” of 63-year-old George King of Staleyville Road in the Town of Sharon.
Apprehended Tuesday in Connnecticut by State Police there in connection with what is not yet being called murder was George King’s son, Gerry King, 37, of Sprakers.
Criminal charges are pending.

Gerry King was apprehended shortly after noon Tuesday after a manhunt that crossed state lines.
Schoharie County Sheriff’s deputies and State Police were called to George King’s home at about 5:30pm Monday after a neighbor checked in on the man.
The neighbor had been asked to stop after George King had failed to show up for work.
Mr. King is believed to be a truck driver.
According to Schoharie County Sheriff John Bates, George King was found dead under suspicious circumstances and the State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigations were contacted.
Police released few details during the search for Gerry King, other than to describe him as 37-year-old, possibly traveling in a blue 1995 Plymouth Voyager mini-van with his girl friend Joleen Henderson, police said.
An autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday afternoon, said police, who were still on the scene into the evening.
The Princetown State Police announced shortly after the body of George King was found that they were seeking a man for questioning in his death.
Gerry King, who had a history of mental illness and had assaulted a police officer in the past, police said.
According to some reports, there was a loud fight at the King home sometime Sunday.
After learning of the incident just before 8am Tuesday, Sharon Springs Central School instituted a lock-out, posting additional staff at the doors and curtailing all outside activities until about 11am, said Superintendent Pat Green.
