C-R collecting for charities

1/27/2010

Cobleskill-Richmondville is reaching out to help charities at a couple of sports events this week.
The collections will help the Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley, cancer research and relief efforts in Haiti.
At Thursday’s varsity wrestling match against Voorheesville, C-R is collecting pet food for the Shelter.
The food drive is in memory of Evelyn Bush, who died last month. Bulldog wrestling Coach Eric Merchant is Ms. Bush’s son.
At Friday’s JV and varsity basketball games, Coaches vs. Cancer will be collecting monetary donations in lieu of an admission charge.
Checks can be made out to the American Cancer Society with a notation for Coaches vs. Cancer.
The money will be used for cancer research.
At Tuesday’s JV and varsity girls’ basketball came, there will be a collection of health items for Haiti relief.
The United Methodist Committee on Relief is asking for these items. Students at C-R’s Radez School will later sort and pack the bags as health kits. All items must be new:
––Hand towels, 15 by 25 inches up to 17 by 27 inches; no dish towels.
––Washcloths.
––Large and sturdy combs; no pocket combs.
––Nail files or fingernail clippers; no toenail clippers.
––Bath-size bars of soap, three ounces and up.
––Adult toothbrushes in original wrappers.
––Adhesive plastic strip sterile bandages.
––Money to purchase toothpaste.
