3 indicted in Sharon murder

Three people were indicted in Schoharie County Court Wednesday in the November 2009 death of George King, 63, in Sharon.
Gerry King, 37, of Carlisle Road, Sprakers, was indicted on charges of second-degree murder in the death of his father at his home on Staleyville Road, said Schoharie County District Attorney James Sacket.
Although no official cause of death has been released, Mr. Sacket said an autopsy on George King indicated he died from blunt force trauma.
Gerry King is being held in jail on no bail on the murder charge, which is an A1 felony.
After George King’s body was discovered in his home at about 5:30pm on November 16, police began to seek Gerry King, and he was arrested after a manhunt in Connecticut. Mr. King and three other people were in the car at the time of the arrest.
Gerry King’s girlfriend, Joleen Henderson, 36, and her mother Alice Williams, 72, were also indicted in County Court last week.
Ms. Henderson was indicted on charges of first-degree hindering prosecution, a Class D felony; tampering with physical evidence, a Class E felony; fourth-degree conspiracy, a Class D felony; and endangering the welfare of a child, a Class A misdemeanor, Mr. Sacket said.
Ms. Williams, of Sharon, was indicted on charges of first-degree hindering prosecution, Mr. Sacket said.
The two women allegedly assisted Gerry King in his escape and Ms. Henderson tampered with evidence, Mr. Sacket said.
Ms. Henderson is free in lieu of $25,000 bail or $50,000 bond while Ms. Williams has been released on her own recognizance.
Gerry King, Ms. Henderson and Ms. Williams will be arraigned soon in County Court, Mr. Sacket said. A motions schedule will then be set up and a trial, if there is one, could be held in August.
Mr. Sacket said he did not want to give too many details of the case except to say that Gerry King was accused of killing George King.
According to a copy of the Gerry King’s arrest warrant, which was obtained by the Times-Journal, the State Police told Connecticut Troopers “that they had a written statement from a 15-year-old juvenile witness that stated on Sunday, November 15, 2009. Gerry King came home looking like he had been in a fight.
“His hand was swollen and [he] had bruises on his chest. Gerry King stated to the juvenile, ‘He’s dead. I killed him. I killed that piece of…”
According to the warrant, Gerry King asked the boy to hide his shoes that “contained blood evidence.”
