Cobleskill kicks off ag survey

3/31/2010

The Town of Cobleskill is working to prepare a Municipal Agricultural & Farmland Protection Plan, with financial help from the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets and technical assistance from the Schoharie County Planning and Development Agency.
To gather public input for the plan the town has recently posted an online Agricultural Survey for completion by Cobleskill farmers, residents, shoppers, visitors and property owners.
The Agricultural Survey is available through a link on the Town’s website or by visiting  http://www.shepstone.net/Cobleskill.
The survey is open to all residents, business owners and property owners within the town.
Interested individuals are encouraged to go on-line and complete the survey by April 15.
The surveys are also available for completion at Town of Cobleskill Offices at 378 Mineral Springs Road, Cobleskill.
“We view this as an excellent opportunity to gather the opinions about the future of agriculture in our area,’ said Steering Committee Chairman John Radliff.
The Agricultural Survey is intended to solicit input from farm and business owners, residents, people who shop in Cobleskill, visitors and those individuals who own property within the town, concerning their feelings about key agricultural issues facing the Town of Cobleskill.
Specifically, the Agricultural Survey solicits input related to future agricultural development, farmland protection and related issues within the Town.
It also delves into opinions on products and services and offers an opportunity for interested parties to address any other issue or concern they may have and the ability to offer suggestions for agricultural and farmland protection in Cobleskill.
