Cobleskill candidates have till Tues. to file

Potential candidates for Cobleskill mayor and a trustee’s seat have until Tuesday to file petitions with the Schoharie County Board of Elections.
Both elections are to fill partial terms of office.
Mayor Mark Nadeau resigned last month, leaving the last three years of his term open. Village board members appointed Guy Burt to fill ousted Trustee Bob LaPietra’s seat, leaving two years left on his term.
Trustees are expected to appoint Ted Brinkman as mayor at their meeting on Tuesday. Mr. Brinkman said he will serve only until the election; a new mayor would take over in early December.
Mr. Burt plans to run for his trusteeship and is circulating petitions, according to village Clerk Sheila Gillespie.
Candidates for either seat need at least 89 signatures of registered voters who live in the village, according to Richard Shultes, deputy commissioner of the Board of Elections.
Petitions are available off the New York State website, though the petitions must state that it’s an election run for the village by the Board of Elections.
Petitions are also available at the Board of Elections.
