It's Galasso vs. MacKay for mayor

8/18/2010

Although it was expected to be a quiet local election year, that won’t be the case in the Village of Cobleskill.
There will be races for mayor and one trustee seat in the November election.
Both seats are to fill remaining partial terms of office.
Running for mayor are Mark Galasso, current trustee and deputy mayor, and Sandy MacKay, former trustee and deputy mayor who lost his bid for mayor to Mark Nadeau last November.
If Mr. Galasso wins, he would appoint a new trustee to finish his term on the board.
The seat became open when Mr. Nadeau resigned in July. Three years remain on the term.
Incumbent Trustee Guy Burt is running against challenger Dawn Fiorello for his position on the board.
Mr. Burt was appointed to replace Bob LaPietra, who left the board in December. Two years remain on the term.
All four candidates filed nominating petitions with the Schoharie County Board of Elections. The deadline for filing was 5pm Tuesday.
