Middleburgh man killed in 2-car crash

An 18-year-old Middleburgh man was killed in a two-car accident on Bear Ladder Road in the Town of Fulton Sunday afternoon.
Raymond Simeon, a 2010 graduate of Middleburgh Central School, was pronounced dead at Cobleskill Regional Hospital Sunday afternoon, said the Cobleskill State Police.
Mr. Simeon was driving a 1987 Volkswagen convertible south on Bear Ladder Road at about 1:40pm when it crossed the center line after going around a right hand curve, police said.
The car collided with the left front of a 1997 Saturn being driven north by Debra Loft, 32, of Middleburgh between Spur and Bidwell roads on Bear Ladder, police said.
After the collision, the Simeon vehicle continued south and hit a large tree with the right front corner of the car and then struck several smaller trees, according to police.
The Loft vehicle continued north, hit the shoulder of the road and flipped over one and a half times coming to rest on its roof, police said.
Ms. Loft, police said, was able to crawl out of the wreckage and was walking and talking shortly afterward at the scene of the accident.
She was taken to Cobleskill Regional Hospital by Scho-Wright ambulance.
Mr. Simeon was extricated from his car with the Jaws of Life but was pronounced dead at the hospital, police said. A cause of death has not yet been determined. An autopsy was to be conducted at Albany Medical Center on Monday.
