Schoharie County ARC, a Chapter of NYSARC, Inc. has announced that Patsy Nicosia, editor of the Times Journal, has been awarded first place recognition in the NYSARC, Inc. 2010 Media Awards for photography.
The NYSARC, Inc. Media Awards recognize print and broadcast media for their contribution toward furthering the public’s awareness and understanding of intellectual and other developmental disabilities through documented journalism.
The awards are presented annually, one in each of the following categories: Photography; Human Interest Stories; News Articles; and Editorials/Letters to Editor.
Ms. Nicosia’s photo coverage of the 2009 Coby Challenge Games and NYSARC Anniversary Walk Celebration earned her top honors, beating our numerous newspaper and media outlets statewide.
She was presented the prestigious award at the 61st Annual NYSARC Convention held Friday at the Crowne Plaza in Albany.
The Times-Journal also tied for second place in the Editorial category for their publication of a letter to the editor entitled, ‘Robert Gedney Carries the Show.’
Nominations for both awards were made by the Schoharie County ARC.
