11/2/2010

The Tea Party of Schoharie County is spearheading an effort to help American troops abroad on Saturday.
Party members and anyone else who wants to help will be putting together care packages 11am-1pm at the Carpets & Then Some building on Route 7 just west of SUNY Cobleskill.
Volunteers are needed to pack boxes and also to donate non-perishable items.
Suggested items for donation are foot powder, shampoo, conditioner, moist wipes, hand sanitizer, toothpaste, tooth brushes, hair brushes, lip balm and hand cream.
Also, sugared cereal, beef jerky, pepperoni, peanut butter, cookies, hard candy, nuts, magazines, novels, letters, art work and other non-perishable items.
Anyone with a loved one in the service can bring an address so that he or she receives a package.
Some of the boxes will be sent to servicemen and –women for whom the Tea Party has addresses.
Other boxes will go to the VFW and the Stratton Air National Guard Base in Scotia for shipping overseas.
