Cobleskill man arrested for child porn
11/16/2010 |
A Cobleskill man was arrested Thursday on child porn charges after State Police seized his home computer.
David R. Karper, 29, of Route 145 was arrested on charges of possessing a sexual performance by a child and for promoting a sexual performance by a child, both felonies said the State Police.
The New York State Police Computer Crimes Unit and the United States Attorney’s Office in the Northern District of New York developed information that a man in Seward was involved with child pornography.
On Thursday, State Troopers executed a federal search warrant at Mr. Karper’s home. Police said the search resulted in the seizure of computers and computer-related materials.
Later that afternoon, Mr. Karper was arrested in Saratoga County, police said. He was brought to the Princetown police barracks for processing.
He was arraigned in the Town of Seward court and sent to jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 bond, police said. He is to return to court on November 17.
In addition to the charges being handled by Schoharie County District Attorney James Sacket, police said assistant U.S. Attorney Thomas Spina is reviewing the case for additional violations of federal laws.
