Finally: Snow!

School kids—and teachers—got what they wanted Wednesday—their first snow day of 2010-11.
Plows and sanders were out in full force through the night.
Even so, most schools in Schoharie and Otsego County are closed.
Cobleskill Highway Department crews are looking into the report of a possible water line break in Mineral Springs Road and everywhere, visibility it difficult.
So far, it looks like the region has escaped the brunt of the storm, but according to the National Weather Service, a winter storm warning remains in effect until 7pm.
The warning is for heavy and blowing snow throughout the Eastern Mohawk Valley, Greater Capital District, Schoharie Valley, and Eastern Catskills.
Snowfall is expected to be moderate to heavy with accumulations 6-16 inches likely.
Areas of blowing and drifting snow are expected to increase this afternoon as north to northwest winds increase to 10-20mph with gusts 25-35mph.
Snow is expected to be heavy at times but tapering off toward evening, with snowfall rates about an inch an hour, slowing down from as much as 2-4 inches this morning.
Roads will become snow-covered and traffic could become difficult.
Temperatures are expected to drop and remain there for the next several days.
