Four men, including two from Worcester, were arrested earlier this month on felony drug possession charges after the search of two homes in January.
The Otsego County Sheriff’s office said additional charges were pressed against Nicholas Lucas, 27, of Head Road and charges were also levied against Michael P. Gray Jr., 25, of Hollenbeck Road last week. Also arrested after the searches were Carey Lee Glover, 67, of Orland, California and Steven Leon Scott, 49, of Proberta, California.
Mr. Gray, police said, was arrested February 7 on charges of first-degree criminal possession of marijuana for allegedly aiding in the possession of 183 pounds of marijuana that was seized from the Lucas home on Head Road on January 7.
Mr. Gray was arraigned in the Town of Worcester court and released to return to court in April, police said. He faces up to five and a half years in prison if convicted of this charge.
On February 1, Mr. Lucas, who was in Otsego County jail, was arraigned on three additional drug charges in Worcester court.
Police said he was charged with third-, fourth- and fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Those charges were a result of a search warrant that was executed at his Head Road home in January in which 26 oxycodone tablets and 72 hydrocodone tablets were seized, along with about two pounds of marijuana and small amounts of ketamine, psilocybin mushrooms, and hashish from a Boughton Road home, police said. Mr. Lucas faces up to 12 additional years in prison if convicted of these possession charges. He was returned to jail where he is being held without bail on charges of first-degree criminal possession of marijuana and criminal possession of a weapon.
The investigation revealed that the California men conspired to deliver the 183 pounds of marijuana to Mr. Lucas’ home on Head Road, police said.
Mr. Lucas, a two-time convicted felon, was arrested for possessing the marijuana after it was delivered and for possessing two shotguns and a rifle inside the home, police said.
During the investigation, $154,000 was seized as a result of the arrests of Mr. Lucas, Mr. Glover and Mr. Scott.
Mr. Glover and Mr. Scott were charged with fourth-degree grand conspiracy, a felony, police said.
The two men, who were arrested after the searches in January, were arraigned and sent to jail. The bail was set at $25,000 on Mr. Scott and $5,000 on Mr. Glover, police said. They face up to four years in prison if convicted of the charges.
Mr. Lucas was originally arrested on charges of first-degree criminal possession of marijuana and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, police said.
The men were arrested as part of a joint narcotics investigation between the Drug Enforcement Agency and the Sheriff’s office.
Assistant district attorney Marvin D. Parshall and District Attorney John M. Muehl are prosecuting the case.
