Time once again for Maple Festival

Sweet times are coming up Saturday.
That’s the day for the 46th annual Maple Festival, which will be held all day in Cobleskill.
Maple products, music, crafts, a parade and demonstrations all build up to the afternoon crowning of the 2011 Maple Queen.
Three girls are vying to succeed Nicole VanGlad, the 2010 Queen: Stephanne Hanzler of Central Bridge, Aleshia Davis of Howes Cave and Hannah Judd of Sharon Springs.
The crowning will be the grand finale. There’s plenty more beforehand at the Cobleskill Fairgrounds:
•8am, pancake breakfast by the Cobleskill Fire Department. Pancakes served all day.
•8:30-11, accepting baked goods for the baking contest.
•All day, crafts, maple evaporator and maple confections demonstrations.
•10, Iona Troupe, Irish dancers.
•10-11, parade lineup at the Best Western.
•11, baking contest judging.
•Skip West plays a wide variety of musical styles.
•11, parade marches from the Best Western to the Fairgrounds.
•Noon, Don Cantwell and the Mardi Gras 5 perform swing music from the Mardi Gras to contemporary.
•Noon, Iona Troupe.
•1, Skip West.
•1:30, Don Cantwell and Mardi Gras 5.
•1:45, Iona Troupe.
•2:30, presentation of Maple Royalty candidates.
