A tractor trailer carrying a load of watermelons overturned in Schoharie Sunday morning closing Route 30 for about four hours.
The Sheriff’s office said they received a call at 8:18am reporting that a tractor trailer overturned on its side near the intersection of Route 30 and Barton Hill Road.
Police said Francisco Diaz, 36, of Tampa, Florida was driving a 2000 Freightliner west on Barton Hill Road when he lost control of the truck because of brake failure.
The truck crossed over Route 30 and overturned, police said.
Police said there were no injuries.
The driver was issued tickets for inadequate brakes, inadequate tires, falsifying a driver’s log and possession of alcohol in a commercial vehicle, police said.
He was arraigned and released to return to Schoharie town court at a later date, police said.
Route 30 was closed for four hours during the course of the investigation into the accident.
The Sheriff’s office was assisted on the scene by the State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement unit, the Schoharie Fire Department and the state DOT.
