The Town of Cobleskill has agreed to put $25,000 toward engineering, design and legal costs for the hoped-for Route 7 water and sewer line expansion—but only if supervisors agree to spend $350,000 themselves when they meet Friday.
Cobleskill’s money drained an Economic Development Fund created by former Supervisor Mike Montario; 71 cents remains.
“I thought you were leaving me $50,” joked Supervisor Tom Murray. “Instead, it’s just 71 cents.”
If supervisors don’t agree to spend the $350,000—part of the $2 million the county has already committed to the project—the town’s $25,000 will go back into the Economic Development Fund.
Mr. Murray also got councilmen’s approval to apply for a $1-$1.5 million grant from the state Environmental Facilities Corporation’s revolving fund that would be used to help fund the water and sewer project.
The town’s third application for $2.575 million in funding through the Economic Development Administration was filed as expected Friday, Mr. Murray said.
Word on that money isn’t expected before mid-July.
