Fab Beeekman Boys back for Friends

‘Pretty like you mean it’ will take on a whole new meaning Monday when The Fabulous Beekman Boys bring what organizers are hoping will be the world’s largest model walk to the Friends of the Fourth’s Independence Day celebration.
Festivities will start at 3pm at the Fairgrounds with a Children’s Fair with rides and games.
All-day tickets will be available or kids can pay per ride.
There will also be food and crafts, Karaoke, live music and a chalk art festival there.
Lineup for the 5pm parade will begin at 4pm at the Best Western, where wanna-be model walkers are also invited to gather.
The first 500 walkers there will receive free feather boas.
Josh Kilmer-Purcell and Brent Ridge introduced the rest of the world to high-stepping model walking on their Planet Green reality TV show, “The Fabulous Beekman Boys,” which is filmed in Sharon Springs.
Mr. Ridge said Maggie Jackman Pryor, one of the Friends of the Fourth organizers, contacted them about trying to put together the world’s largest model walk.
“After Josh model walked on our show, it really went viral with people sending us clips of them doing it from all over,” Mr. Ridge explained.
“This should take it to a whole new level.”
Not only can model walkers gather beforehand to walk the mile-long parade route, Mr. Ridge said they can also join in as the parade passes them.
Mr. Kilmer-Purcell will be leading the walkers; Mr. Ridge will be filming it from the back of a truck; more than likely the entire event will show up on the Beekman 1802 website, he said.
So what do you do to model walk?
“Anything you want,” said Mr. Ridge with a laugh. “Barn boots are optional.”
Other luminaries at Monday’s parade will include Radez Principal Brian Dineen, who’ll be the emcee for parade judging, which will take place in front of Scholet’s.
Honor Flight will be parade grand marshals.
Fireworks at dark will wrap up the fun.
