Schoharie mourns loss of Jeremy LaJeunesse
7/20/2011 |
The Schoharie community is mourning the loss of Jeremy LaJeunesse, a 2009 Schoharie Central School graduate, who died in a car accident last Monday.
Mr. LaJeunesse, 20, of Esperance, died after an accident on McGuire School Road in the Town of Duanesburg, near the county line.
School officials were shocked by the death.
High school Principal Stacey DeLaney remembered Mr. LaJeunesse as a "great kid" who "always had a smile on his face."
He was on the varsity golf and baseball teams while attending SCS and was well liked by both staff and students alike, she said.
On Monday, Ms. DeLaney remembered that Mr. LaJeunesse loved art.
"Walking around the school, I always remembered seeing him in the art room," she said.
His loss will be felt, she said.
"It was just a shock to everyone," she said. "We're all going to feel a loss...
"He's definitely going to be missed by us all. It's a loss for the whole community."
Mr. LaJeunesse is survived by his parents, George and Cathy.
Services were held Saturday at the Esperance-Sloansville United Methodist Church.
