Benefit for Worcester fall victim

7/27/2011

A Cobleskill business is staging a cut-a-thon Saturday in a fundraising effort for Eric Brimlow, the 27-year-old Worcester man critically injured July 11 after a harrowing fall at Crater Lake Oregon.
Mr. Brimlow, the son of Lorraine and Frank Brimlow, was in Washington State for a wedding when he visited the park with friends.
Rescuer workers said Mr. Brimlow left a path and stairs leading down to an overlook, jumped across a five-foot chasm, and then slipped and fell head-first down a steep snow-covered slope.
He rolled over a 50-foot cliff before coming to rest against a tree about 700 feet above the steep-sided lake-the deepest in the United States.
It took 49 park workers using ropes, pulleys, and extension ladders to rappel Mr. Brimlow out.
He was taken to the Rogue Medical Center in Medford, Oregon, where friends say, his family is with him.
As a way to help with the family's travel and medical expenses, Nicole George Shoppe, Main Street, Cobleskill, next to Studio for Art & Craft, will be donating Saturday's proceeds from all walk-in hair cuts, waxes, and polish changes to the Brimlows.
The event runs from 9-4.
There will be refreshments and raffles for items donated by other local businesses.
