"Stronger Than Irene" $ keeps coming
12/27/2011 |
National Grid's book about Hurricane Irene's devastating visit continues to raise money for flood recovery.
Now printed by the Times-Journal, "Schoharie County: Stronger than Irene" netted more than $3,000 in flood relief in little more than a week.
The book features photos taken by National Grid's Jeff Van Deusen, showing damage in the Schoharie Valley and later, damage in Cobleskill from Tropical Storm Lee.
National Grid handled the first printing of the book and three weeks ago gave more than $13,000 from proceeds to the Schoharie County Community Action Program, which is funneling the money to flood victims.
National Grid passed off printing to the Times-Journal the week before Christmas, and on Friday, T-J Publisher Jim Poole gave SCCAP a $3,400 check from the proceeds.
"We're proud to continue this wonderful project started by Jeff and National Grid," Mr. Poole said. "Sales of this remarkable book will help flood victims for months to come."
"Schoharie County: Stronger than Irene" is available at the Apple Barrel, Hubie's, Kelley's Farm and Garden, Carrot Barn, Times-Journal, Grapevine Farm, Noble Ace Hardware, Wolfe's Pizza........
"We're glad to print and dedicate the proceeds as long as there's a demand, which will be a while," Mr. Poole said.
