Firefighters battle Summit blaze

A wood burner is being blamed for a chimney fire that raced through a summit home Saturday morning.
According to Summit Fire Chief Don Clarke, the call for the major structure fire at the Chris Brannigan home on Ernest Road, off of Sawyer Hollow, came in at about 11am.
The owners had left for businesses about an hour prior, he said; the fire was already through the roof when volunteers arrived.
Chief Clarke said firefighters from Summit, Jefferson, Richmondville, West Fulton, and Charlotteville all responded to the scene with manpower and tankers.
Summit and Jefferson FD ambulances were also on-scene, but there were no injuries.
Schoharie County FAST team and fire coordinators were also on-scene.
All units were back in service by 2:30pm
