Girl finds suspicious man in house, thinks quick
4/3/2012 |
A 36-year-old Staten Island man was arrested on charges of criminal trespass in the second degree following an incident which occurred at a home on Route 30A in the Town of Esperance.
Schoharie County Sheriff's Deputies said that at about 5pm on March 28 an 18-year-old female was home alone when she noticed an unknown man standing inside the house. The female told the subject to leave and when he didn't she locked herself in a bedroom. The subject then began banging on the bedroom door and the female continued to tell him to leave.
A short time later another 18-year-old female friend came to visit, when she entered the house she observed the man and heard her friend yelling from the bedroom, police said.
The friend ran to the bedroom as the subject left. The females armed themselves with a kitchen knife and the male went outside to his vehicle.
One of the 18-year-olds took a picture of the car and the license plate. She then called the Schoharie County Sheriff's office to report the incident.
Responding deputies notified area law enforcement agencies of the incident along with the description of the car and license plate number. Approximately 20 minutes later, a Montgomery County Sheriff's Deputy stopped the vehicle on Route 162 in the Town of Root, police said. The operator of the vehicle, Justin N. Schultz, was arrested and turned over to Schoharie County deputies.
He was arraigned before Town Justice Fred Kennedy and committed to the custody of the Schoharie County Sheriff's Office in lieu of $2000 bail.
Mr. Shultz is scheduled to appear in Esperance Town Court on April 4, police said.
The investigation is continuing and Sheriff's deputies are asking anyone who may know of a similar incident which has not been reported to contact 295-8114.
