Dam Concerned Citizens to hear of dam work

Dam Concerned Citizens will hold its sixth annual meeting this Thursday, April 12, 7pm at the United Methodist Church, Middleburgh.
Mark Suttemeir, resident engineer for New York City's Department of Environmental Protection, will provide an update on damages at the Gilboa Dam after Hurricane Irene and a synopsis of rehabilitation work to date.
Howard Bartholomew will speak on the impact of extreme rainfall on stream flow in the Batavia Kill and its contribution to the record-breaking flood on the Schoharie Creek August 28.
Featured speaker will be Michael Quinn, a principal geotechnical engineer with ARCADIS Geotechnical and Dam Engineer program.
Mr. Quinn is a New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology graduate who has spent the last 16 years as a dam consultant.
He also provided technical expertise and written engineering opinions on high profile dam failures, including the Hadlock Pond and Kaloko Reservoir dams.
