The Schoharie County Sheriff's office responded to a personal injury ATV accident on Sunday afternoon, on Radliff Road in the town of Richmondville.
The office received a 911 call reporting the incident at about 5pm. Upon arrival and investigation it was learned that two ATV's were operating on the dirt road about a half of a mile from McDonald Road. Upon speaking with the operators of both machines deputies determined that the two machines made contact causing both operators to be ejected and one machine to turn over several times, coming to rest in a ditch.
The operator of the machine that overturned, Jeffrey Brown II, 24, of Howes Cave was treated at the scene and transported to Cooperstown Hospital with lacerations and possible head trauma. Mr. Brown was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, police said.
The second operator, Megan Ostrander, 22, of Richmondville, was not injured, but was also transported to Cooperstown. She was also wearing a helmet at the time of the incident, police said.
Deputies were assisted by State Police, Richmondville Fire, Richmondville Volunteer Ambulance and County EMS Coordinator. Med-flight was placed on stand-by, but canceled.
There was no indication of any drug or alcohol involvement in the crash, police said.
