C-R budget: No! All others here approved
5/15/2012 |
Needing 60 percent voter approval to pass its school budget, Cobleskill-Richmondville didn't even get 50 percent.
C-R's budget defeat was one of several that showed mixed support-or lack of it-in voting here Tuesday.
C-R's budget totaled $35.3 million with a tax-levy increase of 4.54 percent.
Because the levy increase exceeded the state-imposed limit, 60 percent of voters had to approve the budget.
But they defeated it, 981 yes, 1,198 no.
In other C-R results...
Purchase of four buses: Yes, 972; no, 1,150.
Changing school board elections to at-large: Yes, 1,257; no, 802.
School board: Amanda Hantho, 886; Dan Schulte, 896, for one seat; Melissa Bartlett, unopposed for the other seat, 1,293.
Community Library budget: Yes, 1,152; no, 990.
