Esperance woman killed in crash

An Esperance woman was killed in a two-accident Wednesday afternoon at the intersection of Routes 20 and 30 in the Town of Duanesburg.
Carol J. Barton, 78, of Route 30 in Esperance died at the scene, said the Princetown State Police.
The State Police gave the following description of the accident:
James P. Barton, 78, of the same address was driving west on Route 20 at about 4:50pm and was attempting to make a left-hand turn onto Route 30 south when his vehicle was struck by a car driven by Cheryl Lennox, 63, of Delanson. Ms. Lennox' vehicle was headed east on Route 20.
The Barton vehicle rolled over because of the impact.
Ms. Barton died at the scene while Mr. Barton was taken to Albany Medical Hospital with unspecified injuries.
Ms. Lennox was taken to Ellis Hospital for treatment and was released.
Speed, alcohol, and drugs were not a factor in the accident, police said.
Failure to yield the right-of-way was a contributing factor, police said.
Police had no information on whether tickets were issued in the accident.
