A New Jersey man was arrested Friday as he got off the train at the Schenectady Amtrak Station for allegedly making a threat to blow up the Schoharie County office building.
During a phone conversation with a Department of Social Services employee, Daniel Timmerman, 27, of Washington, New Jersey, became irate and allegedly made the threat, said Schoharie County Sheriff's office Investigator Nelson Armlin.
The threat was general in nature and not specific, Investigator Armlin said.
It was unsure whether Mr. Timmerman made the threat from his home in New Jersey or his mother's home in New York City, Investigator Armlin said.
Mr. Timmerman had an appointment for a DSS visit so police waited at the Amtrak train station in Schenectady and Mr. Timmerman was arrested when he got off the train with the assistance of the Schenectady Police, police said.
Mr. Timmerman was charged with making a terroristic threat and second-degree aggravated harassment, police said.
He was arraigned in the Village of Schoharie court and sent to jail in lieu of $15,000 cash bail or $30,000 bond to return to court on Monday, police said.
Investigator Armlin said Mr. Timmerman has some ongoing Family Court procedures in Schoharie County.
