Community info leads to Esperance drug arrest

acting on community information, the State Police used a search warrant to arrest Ethan A. Vanvalen, 21, on Charleston Street in the Village of Esperance on a variety of drug charges.
State Police said they recovered over 500 ecstasy tablets (known as the compound MDMA, a schedule I hallucinogenic substance), 14 ounces of marijuana, counterfeit currency, a M1000 explosive device and over $2,000. The explosive device was removed by the State Police Bomb Disposal Unit.
Mr. Vanvalen was charged with felony counts of: Criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree; criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree; criminal possession of marijuana in the third degree; criminal possession of a forged instrument in the first degree, police said.
The defendant was arraigned in the town of Cobleskill Court by the Justice Richard Hamm and remanded to the Schoharie County Sheriff without bail to return to Esperance Town Court on Monday, June ,.
