The Schoharie County Department of Health is warning parents that small turtles won at a concession at the Cobleskill Sunshine Fair may be carriers of salmonella and E.coli bacteria.
The quarter-sized turtles were prizes at a ping pong ball toss.
The turtles shouldn't be abandoned to the wild but instead taken to the New York Wildlife Rescue Center, 167 Llama Lane, Middleburgh, 827-7733.
