Sharon Springs Central School will be looking to the future Thursday when it hosts the community forum, "Your Future, Your School."
The session will take place in the SSCS auditorium, beginning at 7pm.
Everyone is invited.
In fact, they're asked to attend.
"What we want to hear from people is what they want the school to be, looking down the road," said Jim MacFadden, school board president.
Board member Paul Larkin, who suggested the event, characterized it as something that would help SSCS develop a "blueprint for the future" in a time of declining enrollment and state aid and increased educational demands.
Everything and anything is on the table, Mr. Larkin said; the only requirement is that people be courteous.
"What should we change? What should we keep the same? What should we do with course offerings? Our high school? These are some of the questions we hope people will discuss," he said.
"I think anyone who shows up will have some ideas and we hope this generates more conversation."
Refreshments will be served.
SSCS has already polled parents and athletes about where they'd like to see school sports go.
The softball and baseball teams, in particular, struggle with fielding enough players and there was some thought that switching leagues or combining some teams-or even activities like FFA or drama-with other districts might be worth exploring.
The overall sentiment from the poll and from this year's seniors, however, seemed to be to leave things alone.
